The success of an architecturally designed project may hinge on accurately achieving the desired details.
Projects may call for drainage systems that follow unique profiles of building envelopes, protecting it and its occupants from surface water. These profiles may follow curved walls and corners or provide drainage channels for level entry access around revolving doors.
Allproof collaborated with Warren Mahoney and Moller Architects to deliver a bespoke drainage solution for the Horizon Hotel. The design required a curved drainage channel to ensure level entry around the revolving doors at the main entrances. Allproof was able to accommodate this through their custom manufacturing service, while adhering to all building codes and AS/NZS standards.
The Cantilever Bracket system was selected which is fixed to an external slab prior to tiles/pavers being laid. This system provides stable support housing grates for dynamic movement of pedestrian traffic entering and exiting revolving doors. It is also mechanically separated from the revolving doors protecting it from any movement or knocking of grates.
Details such as the channel radius were provided to Allproof by the designers. Allproof laser cut a flat template allowing the developers to form a channel on site that will suit the final product. Jigs were made for curving the bracket to the exact radius and dimensions with individual Wedge Wire spokes rolled to suit the diminishing radius of the architectural grate. The system was then fabricated by hand and put through a rigorous Q&A process.
Specifying the Cantilever Bracket for custom solutions provides confidence in performance by utilising an off-the-shelf design that has been rigorously tested both in-house and by independent NATA-accredited laboratories. The grates have been specifically designed for slip resistance, load capacities, hydraulic performance, maintenance, and durability, with features such as lock-downs to prevent movement from traffic or unauthorised access.
