The grates present a range of features engineered to elevate the system’s performance. Each grate variant is designed to be heelproof for pedestrian safety, and to accommodate mobility aids and bicycle tyres, accounting for directional travel. Fixings are used to secure the grates, preventing potential damage from vehicular movement and unauthorised access.
The Wedge Wire (WW) grate is fabricated from 316-grade stainless steel, enhancing its resistance to corrosion, particularly in marine environments. It is classified as load class B when tested in accordance with AS3996 standards for light vehicles and has undergone independent slip resistance testing (AS4586), achieving an R11 classification.
The Heelproof Cast Iron (HCI) grate is rated as load class D, suitable for accommodating commercial vehicle traffic, and holds a slip resistance certification of P5.
For an economic solution, the Galvanised Steel (GAL) option is available. It maintains a load class rating of B and offers a large open area, contributing to its excellent hydraulic performance.
