The Allproof Low Cast-In Passive Fire Collars have been designed and tested on a wide range of plastic plumbing pipes through concrete floors that are poured on site. The low cast-in collar is installed in a similar manner to the standard cast-in collar. The design of these low cast-in fire collars allows the installer to simply fix the base of the cast-in fire collar to the formwork, and the pipe penetration is then installed through the formwork, acting as the riser to the required height during the concrete pour. The pipe should be capped to prevent concrete entering the pipework during construction. This process eliminates the need for post-construction core drilling of penetrations and retro-fitting a fire collar or wrap. This method allows structural steel to be installed around the penetration.
The Low Cast-in Fire Collars consist of intumescent strip(s) encased in a recycled PPE plastic casing with a fixing base. In the event of a fire, the intumescent material expands against the casing as the penetration service melts or deforms. The cast-in fire collars have a steel ring at the base, enabling fast activation of the intumescent, forming a stable fire-resistant seal, maintaining both fire integrity and insulation.
The Allproof Low Cast-in Collars have been tested at accredited fire laboratories in accordance with AS 1530.4 and AS 4072.1. The collars have been tested and designed for both stack and floor waste penetrations.
